About Me

What’s with the logo? The logo represents The North Star (aka Polaris) which is located almost directly above the northern celestial pole and therefore it holds nearly still while the northern sky moves around it. Given it’s fixed location in the north many throughout history have used this to guide them along their journey.

As you and your business continue to traverse the challenges that lie ahead, we here at Coluccio and Associates strive to provide this same fixed point of guidance throughout your journey.

History

INTELLIGENCE. PASSION. EXPERIENCE.

Nicholas Coluccio graduated Walsh College in 2003 with his Bachelor of Accountancy and joined Polk & Associates, a small CPA firm with services ranging from financial audits to bookkeeping. Given the range of services provided by the firm, Nicholas gained invaluable insight into the actual practice of accounting and the many needs of various customers in differing industries. During his practicing at Polk & Associates Nicholas met all the necessary state requirements and earned the designation as a Certified Public Accountant.

To further his professional growth and development he joined Doeren Mayhew in 2005 as a Senior Lead Auditor. The role played a critical step in that Nicholas developed the skill to perceive the many relationships and key factors that exist within the financial statements and supporting documentation. This skill could now be used to drive value and help mitigate risk throughout organizations.

In late 2006 Nicholas went on to join Plante & Moran, a regional firm operating primarily out of the Midwest. There he began as a Due Diligence Consultant, providing private equity groups with summary findings of organizations they had targeted for potential acquisition. Nicholas operated as a highly skilled Consultant able to ascertain the information only deemed relevant to the potential sale itself which varied on each engagement. As Nicholas’ professional growth continued so did his desire to broaden his understanding of other financial services offered to family and small owned business. In June of 2008, he joined Plante & Moran’s Wealth management practice. Plante’s Wealth management practice had largely consisted of clients who were small business owners receiving additional services of the firm such as accounting, tax preparation, consulting etc. As a Wealth Consultant, his responsibility was too coordinated all financial aspects of the client’s portfolio. This meant understanding tax implications on the personal portfolio as well as the small business, mitigation of risk techniques, succession, and estate planning, preparing for financial and tax audits along with all other financial items impacting the client. Unforeseen and unforgettable by many, Lehman Brothers claimed bankruptcy in September of 2008 and the markets were coming undone.

Over the following three years Nicholas led over 80+ clients through a tumultuous and at many times an irrational marketplace, doing so with sound guidance, experience all while acting on the trusted relationships he had built. Proudly after three years Nicholas had successfully not only retained all of his clients but left them better prepared and educated regarding all financial matters of their life.

After much contemplation, Nicholas left public accounting in September 2011 and the small to mid-size business market to advance his skills on a global level by joining T-Systems as a Senior Controller. T-Systems is an international IT services and consulting company and a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom. Given Nicholas’s extensive background in accounting and financial matters he quickly became the nexus between multiple departments enabling greater efficiency and coordination of overall financial operations. In this capacity, he was able to completely revamp the forecast, budgeting, and month-end closing process while helping to lead a dedicated team of controllers to champion the recreation of a US-wide pricing and standard costing initiative.

During his five and a half years, Nicholas played a vital role in many aspects of the organization and had also furthered his professional development by achieving a greater understanding of organizations operating on a global level. Although many opportunities at T-systems and in the marketplace existed, Nicholas had a strong desire and passion in returning to serve small business. Given his intelligence, passion, and experience he found Coluccio and Associates, a CPA firm offering Accounting, Bookkeeping, and Consulting services to small business.
